This Week in Books: 14-10-15

This week in books

This week in books is a weekly meme hosted by Lipsyy Lost and Found. It asks what you’ve read recently, what you’re currently reading and what’s at the top of your TBR pile. Taking on a World of Words runs something similar called WWW Wednesday.

This should nearly be This Month in Books, since its about a month since I last posted. My reading plans went a bit awol over the past month due to a rather hectic month in work. However now I’m hoping to get back on track.

What I’ve Read Recently?

Well over the past month or so, I finished:

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by JK Rowling

The Undertakers Daughter by Kate Mayfield

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by JK Rowling

Great Expectations by Charles Dickens

great expectations

What I’m Currently Reading?

I’m currently reading The Clan of the Cave Bear by J.M Auel. It was given to me a number of months ago by a friend who is really into history and archaeology. I have to say I’m really enjoying it. It is set during the Stone Age, which I think its safe to say is not a period I have read that much about. Apparently when it was originally published in 1981 it was praised for its historical accuracy, though some of the things it portrays have since been disproven. Certainly an interesting read.

What I’ll Read Next?

Next I think I will continue on with my classic challenge and make a start on my Women’s Literature Classic Challenge, hosted by the Classic Club, with Villette by Charlotte Bronte. The blurb on the back claims its better than Jane Eyre. That’s quite the claim, especially since I love Jane Eyre. Fingers crossed it lives up to the hype.
How about you? What books have you read this week.
