This Week in Books: 11-3-15

This week in booksThis week in books is a weekly meme hosted by Lipsyy Lost and Found. It asks what you’ve read, what your reading now and what’s at the top of your TBR pile.

What I’ve Read?

This week I finished my first Reading Ireland book, The Poor Mouth by Flann O’Brien. I enjoyed it but didn’t love it. It was a 3/5.

What I’m Reading Now?

Before continuing on with my Reading Ireland project I have a bookclub selection to read, so I’m currently read An Officer and a Spy by Robert Harris. It is a fictional account the Dreyfus affair, one of the greatest miscarraiges of justices in history. It’s throughly gripping, though the prose is written in a very matter of fact style.

What’s at the Top of your TBR Pile?

I haven’t quite decided what will be up next. It will be one of my Reading Ireland selections, probably be either Country Girls by Edna O’Brien or The Third Policeman by Flann O’Brien.

What is your week in books looking like?

  1. Hope you enjoy Officer and A Spy. I wasn’t sure about it at first as it seemed a bit dry at the start – but I was soon absolutely gripped by the story. My reading this week is finishing Andrew O’Hagan’s The Illuminations and I was going to start The Buried Giant – but reading your post about the Country Girls has made me nostalgic for a favourite book of my youth so think I will take a detour and go back to Kate and Baba!
